Kid's Marathon Final Notes

Kid's Marathon Itinerary for Wednesday June 4, 2014: 
(Times are subject to change)
Arrival -- 4:30-5:00 p.m. at the entrance to Library Park.  Plenty of parking on Meadow Street and Bank Street Garage, NO PARKING ON GRAND STREET. Busses will park on Meadow Street along the Library Park side.

Check in (Registration) – 4:30 – 5:00 p.m. Only the teacher advisor / mentor coach need to check in, please check in once you arrive.  Registration will be located next to the Band Shell. Designated areas will be assigned for each School or Group. A box will be issued to each school with all the materials/information/directions.  Pass out the official KiDSMARATHON T-Shirts at this time as the runners will want to proudly wear them! Mentor shirts will also be available. KiDSMARATHON Certificates will be in an envelope, please fill out and handout at a later time to the participants. Medals will be handed out back at the programs designated area after completion of the mile run. Food will be available at the completion of the event. Each program (school/nonprofit/rec. site) is responsible for their participant’s transportation and attendance. 

Run Course Volunteers Meeting – 5:00 p.m. – Please meet at the stage for a quick meeting.

Mentor Meeting (1 mentor per group) – 5:15 p.m. – Mentors please meet at the Band Shell Stage for a quick meeting.

Individual Group Meeting – 5:30 p.m. All participants to the infield and meet with your group (Signs will designate meeting areas on the infield) 

Parade -- 5:30 p.m. – Each group will be instructed to make their way onto Grand Street (Starting with the groups on the right side of the finish line chute, followed by the left side groups). Group 1 followed by Group 2 followed by Group 3 followed by Group 4 etc. The ROTC & Berkeley Knights will lead the parade onto Grand Street. Please carry your group’s banner.

Group 1 – 6:00 p.m. – North End Middle School
Group 2 – 6:01 p.m. – Wallace Middle School, West Side Middle, & State Street
Group 3 – 6:02 p.m. – Carrington, Bucks Hill, and Gilmartin
Group 4 – 6:03 p.m. – Washington, Regan, Wilson, & Duggan
Group 5 – 6:04 p.m. – Hopeville, Wendell Cross, Driggs, & Bunker Hill
Group 6 – 6:05 p.m. – Chase Park House, North End Recreation, Waterville, & Washington Park House
Group 7 - 6:06 p.m. -- YMCA, PAL, Boys & Girls Club & Southington Schools

Introduction & Welcome – 5:45p.m.
Course: 1.2 mile course
Everyone cheers the runners – parents on the outside of the finish line chute. Each teacher / coach / mentor will present medals and snacks at the designated area at the conclusion of the last group.

“Finishing is winning . . .Winning is finishing”  Program should end by 7:00 p.m.
