Atención Visitantes

Todas las actividades para niños programadas para el mes de septiembre están suspendidas.  Las actividades serán reanudadas en octubre.  Gracias por su paciencia mientras evaluamos y renovamos todos los programas para niños/as.

La Biblioteca Silas Bronson se complace en anunciar a la comunidad de Waterbury la adquisición de la Enciclopedia Mundial en línea.  La enciclopedia puede ser acezada en o fuera de la biblioteca en la dirección electrónica www.bronsonlibrary.org como también  la pagina de niños/as.  La uso de la misma afuera de la biblioteca requiere de una tarjeta valida de la biblioteca. 

Vistas de Clases

La División de Servicios a niños/as de la Biblioteca Silas Bronson le complace trabajar en conjunto con las escuelas publicas de Waterbury, proveedores de cuido diurno, tutores de escuela en casa y otros recursos educacionales locales.

Bibliotecarias ofrecen programas, recursos y experiencias que fomentan y apoyan el crecimiento educacional desde el nacimiento hasta 8vo grado. 

 Visitas de clases: Su clase visita la biblioteca pública. Las bibliotecarias conducen horas de lectura de cuentos con canciones y movimiento.

Welcome to the start of a new school year and another year of A+ School Rewards. Starting October 5, 2014 through March 28, 2015, (Driggs School) will have the opportunity to earn cash through Stop & Shop A+ School Rewards Program.

All you have to do is:

Log on to www.stopandshop.com/aplus to register online

            OR

Dial 1-877-275-2758 to register your card over the phone

After you register your card, each shopping trip at any Stop & Shop using your STOP & SHOP CARD earns CASH for our school!  Each month, the amount of CASH awarded will be updated on the Stop & Shop website.  You can track the amount of points you earn for our school by checking your grocery receipt and online when you create an account at www.stopandshop.com.  Our school will receive a check at the end of the program. The money can be used for any of our school’s educational needs.

Remember, even if you registered your card last year, you must re-register this year for our school to receive credit.  Attending to this simple process makes a HUGE difference to our school.  We need your support.  Please be sure to register your card to benefit Driggs School Using ID #06784.

Bienvenidos al inicio de un nuevo ciclo escolar y un nuevo año de A+ School Rewards. A partir del 5 de octubre de 2014 hasta el 28 de Marzo de 2015,  (Drigg School) tendrá la oportunidad de ganar dinero en efectivo a través del programa  A+ School Rewards.

A Note from the Director

What if I told you we could predict a student's attendance patterns by the end of the first month of school? Would you look at the data a little more closely? Would you start intervening with students right away? A Baltimore study released today demonstrates that absences in September can predict chronic absence levels for the whole school year. That underscores the importance of recognizing Attendance Awareness Month in September, with positive messaging and a renewed commitment to data crunching and targeted outreach.  Schools and communities are already posting their plans on our Attendance Action Map. And we're seeing signs of progress in other ways. New Britain, Conn., is continuing to reduce chronic absence in its elementary schools. And New York City has committed to spending $52 million over the next four years to improve attendance.  These are just a few of the programs we're hearing about. Let us know what you're doing to reduce chronic absence at info@attendanceworks.org.     Hedy Chang September Attendance Can Predict Trends for the Year Absenteeism in the first month of school can predict poor attendance patterns throughout the year, providing an early warning sign for parents and educators to intervene and put students back on track, according to a brief released today by the Baltimore Education Research Consortium. Why September Matters: Improving Student Attendance, by Linda S. Olson, examined attendance in the Baltimore City Public Schools for pre-kindergarten through 12th grade students in September and throughout the rest of the 2012-13 school year. The study found: Students who missed fewer than 2 days in September typically had good attendance rates for the entire year. Half the students who missed 2-4 days in September went on to miss a month or more of school, which is known as chronic absence.
